Waitomo, New Zealand

We are in Waitomo, NZ - a wonderful place that boasts about 400 caves in which glow worms hang from the ceilings, water rushes through the crevaces and eels swim by your feet! We went on a cave adventure today where we sailed down the cave rivers on inner tubes, abseiled down rock faces, sat in the dark and stared up at the glow worms, and then climbed up the rock again at the end....

During our walk out of the cave, it was very dark and the glow worms were glowing away above us...as we waded through the water in our climbing gear and wet suits Alex was overcome with the amazing surroundings and with what we were doing together that he felt the time was right and asked me to marry him......I said yes! (of course!)

So we are officially engaged to be wed!

We are having a fantastic time toodling around this beautiful country - we've seen some amazing natural sites and have eaten great food and drank fantastic wine - in fact, our next plan is to do a self guided wine tour down the east coast of the country starting tomorrow...
